Magic (
Overview
Magic is a skill that some beings, such as humans and demons, in Sorcerion appear to have knowledge of and can actively use. It is often used in combat and for healing the sick and injured. Magic users also seem to have the ability to sense when magic has been used or is currently in use.[1][2][3]
Mana
Mana (
However, if a being - such as a mage - exhausts their mana supply, they will be unable to cast spells and risk losing consciousness.[5] Demons possess the innate ability to heal their wounds and regenerate their bodies using mana, but without it, they are unable to do so.[6] Mana can be restored through proper rest or external means, such as receiving mana from another magic user or consuming substances that replenish mana, such as World's Essence.[6][7]
Mana is traditionally considered a force exclusive to living beings. In contrast, robots, being non-living, do not possess any mana because they lack the vital essence that characterizes life.[8] Interestingly, Madalans also do not appear to use mana when accessing their powers.[2] Typically, magic has a stronger impact on beings that lack mana.[8]
Spells
Spells are structured magical actions used to channel and harness mana for a specific purpose. To cast a spell, a magic user may need to perform an incantation, which involves verbally chanting the spell's words. Incantations can take a few minutes to complete.[1] However, in many cases, simply speaking the spell's name aloud with focused intent is enough to cast it quickly. All spells appear to have some kind of circular magic symbol that appears when the spell is active.
Spells can be used for various effects, including healing, protection, summoning, and offensive attacks. Skilled practitioners, such as mages and certain demons, rely on their knowledge and willpower to cast spells effectively. The potency of a spell appears to depend on the caster's proficiency and available mana.
Notably, human mages require a magic staff to access high-level spells.[9] While it is difficult to complete an incantation started by another spellcaster, mages who have trained together have the chance to successfully do so.[10]
Equipment
While magic is generally used naturally, there are also objects that possess magical abilities, such as the Sword of Courage, which has a couple of Mana Crystals (
