A Hero's Intention (
Summary
The chapter returns to Hallow and his group. Pakkya is wrestling against a bipedal robot unit, Naver, who gave Pakkya a threat level of 4. Hallow jumps Naver from behind and slices most of it into pieces. Naver reports 60% damage, upgrading their threat level from 4 to 6, but encounters an error transmitting data. Hallow then finishes off the Naver. Bastz tells them that he used a jammer to prevent the robot from calling for reinforcements.
Soon after, Hallow slices a rock in half, fatally wounding the titan hiding behind it. When it still struggles to fight back, Bastz drains the soul of the dying titan. Hallow reveals that he can now sense the ferocious energy from titans, attributing it to their distinct latent mana flowing inside them.
Bastz uses a Soul Container to make a portable house, and notes that thanks to titans having stronger life force he was able to make this. Pakkya wants food, but Bastz only has hunger suppressor pills, so they go scavenging. Panepane first finds some Eruption Cacti and Pakkya shows Nukizumi how to handle them. Panepane then finds some mushrooms that turns out to be from the Azure Forest. Nukizumi says this is the first time he's seen the real thing. The Avoidashroom causes those who eat it to hallucinate, which makes the hallucinator kill every living being near it and then kill itself, and then the dead bodies breed more mushrooms. An environment that has plants from an Azure Forest eventually becomes another Azure Forest. Most plants cannot be touched or even approached. Fire will usually stop them, but in this case if you burn the mushroom the hallucinogen will spread in the air so it worsens the problem. People of Gaia's Wrath can only run away from these plants.
Bastz says to leave it to him. He scans the mushrooms and says that even if it's mushrooms with mutation, they are no threat to a Soul Container because it's just a mushroom. He puts a circle around the mushrooms and drains their souls, which results in the entire land turning black. Bastz then says the price to pay is that this land is forever outside of the life cycle and nothing will ever grow again. Bastz says the Soul Containers are the enemy, and he's no better than an enemy for using them.
That night, Pakkya and Hallow are training. Hallow wins and Pakkya says the score is 6-9. They have some small talk before Pakkya falls asleep. When Hallow decides to remain awake to train and patrol the area, he recalls a childhood memory of watching a shooting star with Zaybi, but Zaybi's face suddenly turns black, causing Hallow to wonder what expression his brother had been making at the time. He then looks up at the moon, only to see Galua floating in the sky before it. The alien states that it has found him and that Hallow is coming with it, much to the hero's horror.
